Cristiano Ronaldo beat Lionel Messi for Player of the Year Award

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the Player of the Year by World Soccer Magazine. Ronaldo beat Barcelona’s striker Lionel Messi to win this honour for the second time.

Ronaldo was selected by penal of pundits and football writers from all over the world, who recognized his performance for Real Madrid and his effort for his team Portugal to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Argentinian forward Lionel Messi named as second and Bayern’ Munich’s French forward Franck Ribery was third best player of the year.

Cristiano Ronaldo was named on 1075 ballots after that Messi on 926 and Franck Ribery with 870 ballots. These top three players are also listed for FIFA Ballon d’Or award for 2013.
